Whitening

Professional teeth whitening safely lifts years of stubborn stains to reveal a brighter, more youthful smile. For patients in Stittsville and West Ottawa, Luminara Dental offers highly effective, customized whitening treatments that deliver stunning results without compromising your enamel.

Reveal a brighter, more confident smile

Over time, daily habits like drinking coffee, tea, and red wine, as well as the natural aging process, can leave your teeth looking dull, yellowed, or deeply stained. While over-the-counter strips and pastes promise quick fixes, they often fall short, delivering uneven results or causing severe tooth sensitivity.

Professional teeth whitening at Luminara Dental is a safe, controlled, and highly effective cosmetic treatment designed to break down deep stains and brighten your smile by several shades in a fraction of the time.

Why choose professional teeth whitening?

Choosing a professional, dentist-supervised treatment provides clear advantages over retail products:

  • Customized strength: We tailor the concentration of the whitening gel to your specific goals and natural sensitivity levels, ensuring a comfortable experience.
  • Safe for your enamel: Our professional-grade formulas are designed to protect your tooth enamel and underlying dentin while effectively lifting stains.
  • Even, consistent results: Custom applications ensure that the whitening agent reaches all visible contours of your teeth, avoiding the patchy or uneven results common with one-size-fits-all strips.
  • Faster transformation: Professional treatments utilize powerful agents that act quickly, giving you a dramatically brighter smile for an upcoming wedding, graduation, or special event.

Our personalized whitening options in Stittsville

We understand that every patient’s schedule and sensitivity levels are different. We typically offer options to fit your lifestyle:

  • In-Office Whitening: For immediate results, we apply a powerful, professional-grade gel right in the dental chair. In just about an hour, you can leave our clinic with a noticeably whiter smile.
  • Custom Take-Home Kits: If you prefer to whiten at your own pace, we take impressions to create custom-fitted whitening trays. We provide you with professional-strength gel and detailed instructions so you can safely achieve your desired shade from the comfort of your own home.

The perfect first step for a smile makeover

Whitening is often the ideal starting point if you are considering other cosmetic or restorative work. Because dental materials do not respond to whitening agents, it is highly recommended to whiten your natural teeth before receiving new composite veneers, porcelain veneers, or dental crowns. This allows us to precisely color-match your new restorations to your newly brightened smile.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does professional teeth whitening cause sensitivity?

Some temporary tooth sensitivity is normal during and immediately after the whitening process. However, because your treatment is professionally supervised, we can adjust the gel concentration to keep you comfortable. We may also recommend a desensitizing toothpaste or an in-office fluoride application to help soothe your teeth after treatment.

How long will my whitening results last?

Your results can last anywhere from several months to a few years, depending heavily on your lifestyle habits. Minimizing dark-colored foods and beverages, avoiding tobacco, and maintaining your regular hygiene recall appointments will help preserve your bright new smile. We also offer refill gels for your custom trays so you can perform quick touch-ups at home.

Will whitening treatments work on my fillings or crowns?

No. Whitening agents are only effective on natural, porous tooth enamel. They will not change the color of existing fillings, crowns, bridges, or dentures. If you have visible restorations, we will carefully plan your whitening treatment to ensure your overall smile remains harmonious and evenly colored.

faq

Asked and answered.

The things people ask on the phone before they book — written out properly, so you don't have to ask them.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes — new patients of every age are welcome, and we're taking bookings now. Call (613) 836-1333 or email the office and we'll find you a time, usually within the same week.

What should I bring to my first visit?

  • Your insurance details, if you have coverage
  • A list of any medications and supplements you take
  • Recent x-rays from a previous dentist, if you can get them sent over
  • Anything you've been worrying about, written down — people forget once they're in the chair

If you don't have any of it, come anyway. We'll sort it out from here.

How long does a first appointment take?

Plan for about an hour. That covers a full exam, any x-rays we need, a periodontal check, an oral cancer screening, and time to actually talk through what we found. If a cleaning fits the same day, we'll do it — otherwise we'll book it close by.

Do you see children?

We do, and we're glad to book families together. A first visit for a young child is short and mostly about them getting comfortable in the room — counting teeth, looking at the tools, sitting in the chair. Nothing happens that we haven't explained to them first.

Do you accept my insurance?

We accept most traditional insurance plans — call the office and we'll confirm yours specifically. Our staff verifies your coverage, submits pre-estimates where it's useful to know the number in advance, and files your claims so you're reimbursed. One thing worth understanding: your policy is a contract between you and your insurer, not between us and them. We'll do everything we can to maximise what you get back, but the terms are theirs.

Will I know the cost before treatment starts?

Always. You get the options and the costs in writing, with your insurance portion estimated, before anything begins. If we find something unexpected mid-treatment, we stop and talk to you rather than carrying on and adding it to the bill.

How can I pay?

Cheque, cash, or major credit cards. You can also call the office to make a payment or to talk through your options if the timing is difficult — it's a conversation we have often and there's no awkwardness in it.

What if I have no insurance at all?

You're just as welcome. We'll give you the full cost up front and, where there's more than one clinically sound way to treat something, we'll tell you what each one costs and let you decide. Plenty of our patients pay out of pocket.
