Porcelain veneers

Achieve a flawless, long-lasting smile with custom porcelain veneers. Luminara Dental provides premium, stain-resistant veneers for patients in Stittsville, Kanata, and West Ottawa, offering a permanent solution to conceal chips, gaps, and deep discoloration for a stunning smile makeover.

The ultimate smile makeover

Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-crafted shells of high-grade dental ceramic that are permanently bonded to the front surface of your teeth. They are considered the gold standard in cosmetic dentistry, capable of completely transforming the size, shape, and color of your smile.

At Luminara Dental, we design bespoke porcelain veneers that look entirely natural while giving you the radiant confidence you deserve.

Why choose porcelain veneers?

If you are looking for a permanent, dramatic aesthetic upgrade, porcelain offers unmatched advantages over other cosmetic treatments:

  • Exceptional aesthetics: Dental porcelain reflects light exactly like natural tooth enamel, providing a lifelike translucency, texture, and shine.
  • Highly stain-resistant: Unlike natural enamel or composite veneers, high-quality porcelain is practically impervious to stains from coffee, tea, berries, and red wine.
  • Incredible durability: When bonded securely to a healthy tooth, porcelain veneers become incredibly strong and can easily withstand the daily forces of a normal bite.
  • Comprehensive correction: A single treatment can simultaneously fix multiple cosmetic issues, including severe discoloration that doesn't respond to whitening, slight crowding, gaps, and worn or chipped edges.

Bespoke cosmetic dentistry in West Ottawa

A true smile makeover requires both clinical precision and an artistic eye. Our Stittsville dental team takes a comprehensive approach to your facial aesthetics, considering your lip line, skin tone, and facial symmetry.

We collaborate with master ceramists at specialized dental laboratories to ensure your new veneers are perfectly tailored to you, delivering a result that is beautiful, balanced, and functionally sound for our patients across West Ottawa.

The porcelain veneer process

Transforming your smile with porcelain veneers is a meticulous process that typically takes place over two or three visits to our clinic:

  1. Consultation and Smile Design: We discuss your specific aesthetic goals, evaluate your oral health, and map out the exact shape and shade of your new smile.
  2. Preparation: We ensure you are completely comfortable and numb. A microscopic layer of enamel (about the thickness of a contact lens) is gently removed from the front of your teeth to make room for the porcelain to sit flush.
  3. Impressions and Temporaries: We take precise digital or physical impressions to send to our ceramist. You will leave this appointment wearing beautiful temporary veneers to protect your teeth and let you "test drive" your new smile.
  4. Final Placement: Once your permanent, handcrafted veneers arrive from the lab, you return to our office. We carefully remove the temporaries, evaluate the fit and color of the porcelain, and permanently bond them into place.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Porcelain vs. composite veneers: Which is better?

Both are excellent options, but they serve different needs. Porcelain veneers are significantly more durable, highly stain-resistant, and last much longer than composite veneers. While composite bonding is a great, cost-effective option for minor corrections that can be completed in one visit, porcelain is the premier choice for a complete, long-lasting smile makeover.

How long do porcelain veneers last?

With excellent oral hygiene, routine hygiene recall visits, and proper care, porcelain veneers typically last 10 to 15 years, and often up to 20 years. To protect your investment, we highly recommend wearing a custom nightguard while you sleep to prevent the porcelain from chipping due to unconscious teeth grinding (bruxism).

Can I get cavities with veneers?

The porcelain veneer itself cannot decay, but the natural tooth structure underneath and behind the veneer is still vulnerable. It is vital that you continue to brush twice a day and floss daily to keep the supporting tooth and the surrounding gum tissue healthy.

faq

Asked and answered.

The things people ask on the phone before they book — written out properly, so you don't have to ask them.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes — new patients of every age are welcome, and we're taking bookings now. Call (613) 836-1333 or email the office and we'll find you a time, usually within the same week.

What should I bring to my first visit?

  • Your insurance details, if you have coverage
  • A list of any medications and supplements you take
  • Recent x-rays from a previous dentist, if you can get them sent over
  • Anything you've been worrying about, written down — people forget once they're in the chair

If you don't have any of it, come anyway. We'll sort it out from here.

How long does a first appointment take?

Plan for about an hour. That covers a full exam, any x-rays we need, a periodontal check, an oral cancer screening, and time to actually talk through what we found. If a cleaning fits the same day, we'll do it — otherwise we'll book it close by.

Do you see children?

We do, and we're glad to book families together. A first visit for a young child is short and mostly about them getting comfortable in the room — counting teeth, looking at the tools, sitting in the chair. Nothing happens that we haven't explained to them first.

Do you accept my insurance?

We accept most traditional insurance plans — call the office and we'll confirm yours specifically. Our staff verifies your coverage, submits pre-estimates where it's useful to know the number in advance, and files your claims so you're reimbursed. One thing worth understanding: your policy is a contract between you and your insurer, not between us and them. We'll do everything we can to maximise what you get back, but the terms are theirs.

Will I know the cost before treatment starts?

Always. You get the options and the costs in writing, with your insurance portion estimated, before anything begins. If we find something unexpected mid-treatment, we stop and talk to you rather than carrying on and adding it to the bill.

How can I pay?

Cheque, cash, or major credit cards. You can also call the office to make a payment or to talk through your options if the timing is difficult — it's a conversation we have often and there's no awkwardness in it.

What if I have no insurance at all?

You're just as welcome. We'll give you the full cost up front and, where there's more than one clinically sound way to treat something, we'll tell you what each one costs and let you decide. Plenty of our patients pay out of pocket.
