Composite veneers

Transform your smile in a single visit with custom composite veneers. For patients in Stittsville, Kanata, and West Ottawa, this minimally invasive cosmetic treatment beautifully conceals chips, gaps, and discoloration to give you a flawless, natural-looking aesthetic.

Instant smile transformation

Sometimes, a single chip, a slight gap, or stubborn discoloration can make you hesitant to share your smile. Composite veneers (often referred to as cosmetic bonding) offer a fast, conservative, and highly effective way to correct these imperfections.

At Luminara Dental, our Stittsville team uses premium, tooth-colored composite resin to meticulously sculpt and reshape your teeth directly in the chair, delivering a stunning, natural-looking makeover in just one appointment.

Why choose composite veneers?

Composite veneers provide a beautiful cosmetic upgrade with several unique advantages:

  • Single-visit results: Unlike other restorations that require a dental lab, composite veneers are applied, shaped, and polished in a single visit.
  • Minimally invasive: The procedure requires little to no removal of your natural tooth enamel, preserving the underlying structural integrity of your teeth.
  • Cost-effective: Composite resin is generally a more affordable cosmetic option than porcelain veneers, making a beautiful smile accessible to more patients.
  • Easily repairable: If a composite veneer ever chips, it can usually be repaired quickly and seamlessly right in our office.

Cosmetic dentistry tailored to you in West Ottawa

Cosmetic dentistry is an art form. We don't believe in "one-size-fits-all" smiles. Our Stittsville dental team takes the time to study your facial proportions, natural lip line, and tooth symmetry. We carefully layer and blend the composite resin to mimic the natural translucency and texture of real enamel, ensuring your new smile perfectly complements your unique features.

The composite veneer process: What to expect

Getting composite veneers is a comfortable, straightforward experience:

  1. Consultation and Design: We discuss your aesthetic goals and select the exact shade of resin to match or brighten your surrounding teeth. (Consider a whitening treatment first if you want an overall brighter smile!)
  2. Preparation: We lightly condition the surface of the tooth to ensure a strong, durable bond. Because the process is so conservative, local anesthesia is rarely needed.
  3. Sculpting: The composite resin is applied in layers and masterfully sculpted into the ideal shape, closing gaps, lengthening short teeth, or covering chips.
  4. Curing and Polishing: We use a specialized UV light to instantly harden the material. Finally, we polish the veneer to a high gloss so it reflects light just like your natural enamel.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Composite vs. porcelain veneers: Which is better?

Both offer excellent cosmetic results, but they serve different needs. Composite veneers are faster, more affordable, and minimally invasive, but they may stain or chip more easily over time. Porcelain veneers require a bit more preparation and take two visits, but the ceramic material is incredibly durable, highly stain-resistant, and lasts longer. We will help you weigh the options during your consultation.

Does getting composite veneers hurt?

No. Because the procedure typically requires no drilling or removal of healthy enamel, the process is completely painless. Most patients do not even require local anesthesia to remain perfectly comfortable.

How do I care for my composite veneers?

You should care for them just like your natural teeth. Brush twice a day, floss daily, and maintain your regular hygiene recall visits. To prevent chipping or staining, avoid biting on hard objects (like ice or pens) and minimize dark-colored foods and beverages. If you grind your teeth at night, we highly recommend a nightguard to protect your new smile.

faq

Asked and answered.

The things people ask on the phone before they book — written out properly, so you don't have to ask them.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes — new patients of every age are welcome, and we're taking bookings now. Call (613) 836-1333 or email the office and we'll find you a time, usually within the same week.

What should I bring to my first visit?

  • Your insurance details, if you have coverage
  • A list of any medications and supplements you take
  • Recent x-rays from a previous dentist, if you can get them sent over
  • Anything you've been worrying about, written down — people forget once they're in the chair

If you don't have any of it, come anyway. We'll sort it out from here.

How long does a first appointment take?

Plan for about an hour. That covers a full exam, any x-rays we need, a periodontal check, an oral cancer screening, and time to actually talk through what we found. If a cleaning fits the same day, we'll do it — otherwise we'll book it close by.

Do you see children?

We do, and we're glad to book families together. A first visit for a young child is short and mostly about them getting comfortable in the room — counting teeth, looking at the tools, sitting in the chair. Nothing happens that we haven't explained to them first.

Do you accept my insurance?

We accept most traditional insurance plans — call the office and we'll confirm yours specifically. Our staff verifies your coverage, submits pre-estimates where it's useful to know the number in advance, and files your claims so you're reimbursed. One thing worth understanding: your policy is a contract between you and your insurer, not between us and them. We'll do everything we can to maximise what you get back, but the terms are theirs.

Will I know the cost before treatment starts?

Always. You get the options and the costs in writing, with your insurance portion estimated, before anything begins. If we find something unexpected mid-treatment, we stop and talk to you rather than carrying on and adding it to the bill.

How can I pay?

Cheque, cash, or major credit cards. You can also call the office to make a payment or to talk through your options if the timing is difficult — it's a conversation we have often and there's no awkwardness in it.

What if I have no insurance at all?

You're just as welcome. We'll give you the full cost up front and, where there's more than one clinically sound way to treat something, we'll tell you what each one costs and let you decide. Plenty of our patients pay out of pocket.
